The House of Fabergé was founded by Gustave Fabergé in 1842 in St. Petersburg, Russia. Fabergé eggs were later added to the product line by his son Peter Carl Fabergé.

Before 1885, Emperor Alexander III gave his wife, Empress Maria Feodorovna, decorative Easter eggs. At Easter in 1883, before his coronation, Alexander III and Maria Feodorovna were given eggs, one of which contained a silver dagger and two skulls. The egg bore the messages "Christ is risen" and "You can crush us, but we nihilists will rise again!"

With a proof finish and complemented by a glossy "Peter the Great" inscription, the coin's motif stands out with remarkable depth. With a relief height of approximately 2.2 mm and a characteristic scalloped edge, this collector's piece is not only a technical masterpiece of coinage, but also a tribute to the unparalleled artistry of Peter Carl Fabergé.
