Southern Cross (2026) - 1 Oz - Silver Investment Coin

This silver ounce is a high relief version of the first silver coin issued by the Australian ABC Mint in the jurisdiction of Niue.

The coin depicts iconic Australian animals - the kangaroo and emu - against a backdrop of Australia's vast outback landscape, both looking towards the Southern Cross constellation, a distinctive feature of the Australian night sky that is also present on the Australian flag. The kangaroo and the emu symbolise a nation moving forward. Together with the Southern Cross, these coins capture not only Australia's national identity but also its place in the world, anchored by the constellation that has guided the southern hemisphere for centuries.

The obverse of the coin depicts the (uncrowned) head of King Charles III facing left. Underneath it, the artist's initials JC (Jody Clark) appear in small letters. Around the coin is an inscription with the name of the monarch, the face value and the date of issue: CHARLES III - NIUE - 2 DOLLARS - 2026 -. The inscription is placed in a large circle with microscopic dots.

The reverse of the coin depicts a kangaroo and an emu within a meandering border in an Australian outback landscape, both looking towards the constellation of the Southern Cross, which is highlighted in the starry sky. On the grass at the bottom left are the designer's initials, TD, Tony Dean. In the upper left is the inscription THE SOUTHERN CROSS. On the top right is the inscription 1 OZ ABC MINT 9999 FINE SILVER. The pattern on the edge of the coin is interrupted by the ABC mint mark, which looks like a square bar.
