Mexico - Libertad 2024, Cinco de Mayo - Silver Collector Coin

Each silver coloured 2024 Libertad Cinco de Mayo coin was individually packaged by the Germania Mint. The coins have been enhanced with a thin layer of 24k gold on selected design elements and a full-colour obverse and reverse background field. The coins are housed in capsules and wrapped in a themed outer packaging.

The Cinco de Mayo coin commemorates the Mexican Army's victory over the French Empire at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Under the leadership of General Ignacio Zaragoza, Mexican forces defeated a well-equipped French army, a significant morale boost during Mexico's resistance to French occupation.

The obverse of the Mexican Libertad Cinco de Mayo 2024 silver colored coin features the national emblem in the center. The festive background has been enhanced with decorations customary for this holiday and the inscription VIVA MEXICO. In the United States, Cinco de Mayo has evolved into a celebration of Mexican-American culture that goes far beyond its historical origins.

The reverse side of the Libertad Cinco de Mayo 2024 1 oz silver coins features the image of a winged victory in the center. This side also boasts celebratory elements in a colorful field background in honor of the holiday. Today, Cinco de Mayo is marked by parades, celebrations, mariachi music, traditional folk dancing and Mexican cuisine.
