An ancient art form
The artistic decoration of this coin series draws inspiration from the Chinese art of paper cutting. Chinese paper-cutting, or "jianzhi", is the art of carving intricate designs from paper to decorate windows and lanterns. This folk art tradition, said to have originated after the invention of paper in 105 AD, is still practiced today. In 2009, it was inscribed on UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, which includes intangible heritage elements that highlight the diversity of this heritage and raise awareness of its importance.
The motif of the rotating horse
The reverse of the coin depicts a rotating gold-plated silver bead in the shape of a horse. It is surrounded by five horses in different positions, depicted in the style of Chinese paper-cutting, set in stylised foliage. Also included is a Perth Mint "P" mintmark and the year of issue 2026.
Presentation packaging
The coin comes with a numbered certificate of authenticity in a classic black display case with a transparent lid and stylish packaging.
